 I never really thought about using these social networking sites as a tool in the classroom. After looking at some sources, I see the many ways to use them in the classroom. Personally, I would be more likely to use Facebook for a classroom. I would make a classroom group and invite both students and parents to join to see what is going on everyday and post any events coming up. The thing that I dislike about both sites is the privacy settings. For educational purposes I do not think that I find them very appropriate. There is only so much that you can manage to keep private. Educators may discover more about their students than they want to know. It is also something that students may even abuse eventually.
